Thurrock Cycle Marathon

Our Branch chairman Gerard Rice completed the 2017 Thurrock Cycle Marathon ( along with 400 other riders) raising in excess of  £1750 for the RNLI. The final amount will be known in September.

The event was organised by the Rotary Club of Mar Dyke Valley.

TESCO (Pitsea) fundraiser

Our second collection of the year at Tesco (Pitsea) took place on a nice sunny day which I think is always a bonus.

A total of £254 was raised. Many thanks to all who donated.

Mayors Visit to RNLI Gravesend

Members of the branch escorted the Mayor of Thurrock Cllr. Cathy Kent and other guests on a visit to RNLI Gravesend  to meet the crew and see the LIfeboat and learn more about the service they provide.

The duty crew as usual were very accomodating and gave a very good overview of their operational capabilities.(Many Thanks).

The visit was rounded off with a pub lunch.

Morrisons (Grays) fundraiser

Our first collection of the year at Morrisons in Grays raised £247. Many thanks to all who donated.

Thurrock Acorns Amateur Radio Club - Fundraising Event

Members of Thurrock Acorns Amateur Radio Club descended on Thurrock Yacht Club on Friday (27th Jan) to raise funds and promote the RNLI via the medium of Amateur radio. Three radios were in operation for most of the day and I believe contacts as far away as Japan may have been achievied.
During the day Tim Corthorn (Deputy Harbour Master for the Port of Tilbury) popped round and presented us with a cheque and the Gravesend Lifeboat left it a bit late in attending and missed the tide, you can just see them centre background (photo below).
A total of £171 pounds was raised overall.
A big thankyou to all who participated and to Thurrock Yacht Club for allowing us the use of the clubhouse.
